THE FIRST HOSTAL EMPÚRIES PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION “LOVE OF THE LAND »

We are proud to present the first Hostal Empúries Photography Competition, which is an open invitation to all photography fans to capture the beauty of the Costa Brava and the Empordà. Natural motifs, architectural, social and cultural themes are all welcome, provided that they reflect the essential character of the area.

The administration of the competition and the workshop are being directed by professionals in the sector, such as Manel Úbeda, photographer and the Director of the Photography Department of the Upper Institute of Design and the School of the Image of Barcelona (the IDEP) and Núria Gras, photographer and director of the La Magistral workshops and seminars in Sant Pere Pescador. We are also working with leading companies in the photography sector such as Sony, the IDEPEGM, a leading company in photographic printing. Cafès Novell also joins our list of participating companies.

There will be awards for 8 photographs this year; there will be three first prizes, four runners-up and a special prize for the best photograph of those presented by participants in the workshop which will be held on the 14th and 15th of May 2011 (click here for more information).

The 1st Hostal Empúries Prize:

• 3 000 €

2nd Prize

• A Sony A55VY semi-professional digital SLR camera, with video recorder, full HD, translucent mirror and 2 zoom lenses. (see camera)( see camera )

• A place at the photography workshop in the IDEP school during the spring 2011-2012 course.*

3rd Prize:

• A Sony Nex-5 digital SLR camera without pentaprism with a zoom lens of 18-55mm. ( see camera )

Runners-up (4)::

• A diploma and one night’s lodging with breakfast and spa circuit included in the Hostal Empúries for two people.**

Special Prize for the Photography Workshop: 

• A Sony Cyber-shot H70 compact camera ( see camera ) 

• One night’s lodging with breakfast and spa circuit included in the Hostal Empúries for two people.**

* The choice of the workshop course is subject to the availability of places.

** Dates for reservations at the Hostal Empúries are from the 28th of August and are subject to availability.
