The Portitxol beach
In front of the Hostal and a stone’s throw from the ruins of Empuries lies the family friendly Portitxol beach. Its fine golden sands and peaceful waters, like the pines which surround it, make this an enjoyable natural setting without equal.
The beach is bounded by a rocky area on one side and dainty cliffs on the other. It is 230 meters in length and is gently shelved at the sea-shore making it easily accessible for people with reduced mobility.
Leading off the beach is the Dune Walkway, a 2.5 km trail which follows the coastline, and whose path L’Escala to the medieval village of Sant Marti d’Empuries, lets you enjoy, on foot or on bike, the excellent panoramic views of the beaches and archaeological ruins.
A friendly beach bar accompanies this wonderful natural setting, letting you relax with a drink whilest contemplating a spectacular sunset.
